Friday day off

Today was a day off for all of us. Slept almost the whole day. Towards the evening we went out for a movie Tokkie. I did not like it too much. After that we went out for dinner. The restaurant's setting was beautiful, somewhere on the road side, we had barbecue and a lot of sea food. Today incidentally was also my first time getting a ride in a taxi. While we were making our way from Big C to the restaurant the ride got me thinking of me going to school in my younger days. Now I am back, have a few books to read. I am hooked to this song by Jhon Mayer named 'gravity' listen to it if you get a chance... beautiful lyrics... it's making me blue.

RAiny day classes

Today was another day in Kru Nat learning House. It was raining heavily here but still students came in. Cheers to their spirit of learning. We started the day off with Pla as our first student. She practiced English speaking and a little bit of writing skills. Here we are trying to encourage students to speak more and as they speak we try to correct their grammar. It's sometimes laborious and very often difficult for them to register with the grammar as they speak, but as we go on I hope some day it register in their mind. The basic backbone of English speaking is grammar, but grammar here is often a subject of boredom. So in order to make the subject more interesting we are currently trying to make the class more interactive and encouraging the students to speak more. More than Grammar it is confidence that matters the most. If you have confidence and believe in yourselves there is nothing that can stop you. In our daily classes we try to instill that confidence in each and everyone who comes to learn here. In life we may not always be right or get what we want but what is more important is to try and never give up. As they say "try and try until you succeed" I hope more than English students learn to try. In whatever they are in we must learn to live in the moment and give it our best shot then it will not matter if you are right or wrong, in the long run you will ultimately succeed. After Pla's class, we had a screening of an Indian movie 3 idiots. The film is on education. It highlights the pressure that the students have to take while in a formal institution. The movie tells us that is we run after excellence success will follow. It's also tells us to enjoy education and not take it as a burden. Towards the evening along with Soul, Teeraya and her brother (who was studying in Japan) we did a bit a letter writing. Wonderful people I must say, it was raining heavily in the evening, Both of them were kind enough to cook spaghetti for us. Needless to say it was alloy, so thank you both Teeraya and Soul. Well they have promised to write their homework on the blog here, hopefully they will be able to navigate the blogging culture. Tomorrow is a holiday for all of us, it's sad I won't be able to teach, but everyone needs a break I guess.

New Begining

Based in the northern most tip of Thailand, Krunat language house offers the students of Chiang Rai to learn English in a very informal manner. It seeks to offer not academics but education, where to learn is to unlearn, where a mentor is provided and not a teacher. Krunat Language House is a small initiative to expose our country to the global hegemony of English. It's aim is to make the students compete in the international arena, and this company bases itself first in training it's students first in speaking good English. This language house comprises of seven teachers mostly equipped with guiding it's pupil in speaking correct English. Imparting education in the absence of a teacher is actually fun for us too, where in the students are much more friendly as they take in our words very easily.
